Lotus
Creative Design
p5.js
This is interactive creative coding project, built using p5.js, for my class. It explores the relationship between mouse movement, live video, and generative visuals of lotus.
The horizontal mouse movement controls both the video speed and the density of a grid overlay, where lotus PNGs are randomly distributed and continuously reshaped. Slower movements produce open, calm compositions, while faster movements create dense, energetic visual patterns.
The lotus was intentionally chosen due to my personal connection with the flower, which has held special meaning for me over time. By combining organic symbolism with digital randomness, the project allows viewers to actively shape ephemeral compositions that explore impermanence, control, and chance.
