Xjournal Magazine Vol.7
Editorial Design
Adobe Illustrator
For Volume 7 of XJournal, we continued the long-standing tradition of featuring the letter “X” on the cover, while intentionally pushing its visual language forward. This year marked a shift in the magazine’s design history as we experimented with a triple-color approach, introducing a more dynamic and expressive palette.
As one of the lead designers for XJournal, I explored abstract interpretations of the “X,” experimenting extensively in Illustrator to build layered compositions that challenged previous iterations of the cover. Through close collaboration with our advisor and the design team, we reviewed multiple variations and ultimately selected a specific fragment of the artwork that felt both bold and balanced.
This refined section became the final cover, reflecting a blend of individual experimentation and collective, team-driven decision-making.
